Josephine Community Libraries and Rogue Community College are partnering to offer a new internship program for coordination of the Summer Reading Program for children at the Grants Pass branch.

About 1,000 children participate in the Summer Reading Program across the library system serving Grants Pass, Williams, Wolf Creek, and the Illinois Valley.

The internship course is offered during the spring and summer term at Rogue Community College through the Early Childhood Education Department, as ED280.

The Summer Reading Program Coordinator will engage children in education activities during the library’s Summer Reading Program, including pre-planning, overseeing the six-week program from June to August, and post-program reporting.

A grant stipend is available to offset the cost of tuition for qualified candidates. Each course equals four credit hours toward a college program, or may be taken as an elective. Students interested in the program can sign up for the course during the regularly scheduled registration periods. The registration deadline is April 3.
