Josephine Community Libraries will offer a workshop to help members of the business community access new and existing online resources. The Business Resource Workshop is scheduled for 12-1 pm on Wednesday, August 26 in the Ben Bones Room of the Grants Pass branch of Josephine Community Libraries.
The workshop is free, but space is limited, and a spot can be reserved by calling the Grants Pass branch at 541-476-0571. Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch.
The presentation will include a brief introduction to the library’s online resources, which include the new Business Collection as well as the Small Business Resource Center, Business Insights: Global, and Business Economics and Theory. Participants will see a demonstration of how the databases work and can ask questions. The new collection, which covers a wide variety of topics such as marketing, strategy, economics, and management, is now online and accessible with a free library card. This workshop is offered as part of the Expanding Opportunities Program, which is funded by the Oregon State Library through the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). Program Manager Patricia Snyder said that the workshop is an opportunity for existing businesses and those interested in starting a business to learn about library resources they can access from any computer with an Internet connection.
“People can boost their business skills by accessing thousands of articles in a searchable collection from the comfort of their own offices or homes, or they can use a library computer station,” she said. “I hope this resource will help to improve the prosperity of this area, which is a goal of the Expanding Opportunities Program. Libraries are a partner in economic success, and I hope to hear great stories come from the knowledge people gain through this program.”
