Learn to use library’s online tools

BizCollectionMedJosephine Community Libraries is offering a workshop to help members of the business community access online resources at 5:30 pm on Thursday, October 8 in the Ben Bones Room of the Grants Pass branch, 200 NW C Street. The Business Resource Workshop is free, but space is limited, and a spot can be reserved by calling the Grants Pass branch at 541-476-0571 or sending an email to info@josephinelibrary.org.

The presentation will include a brief introduction to the library’s online resources, which include the Business Collection, the Small Business Resource Center, Business Insights: Global, and Business Economics and Theory. Those attending will have the opportunity see a demonstration of how the searchable collections work and ask questions. Online resources include sample business plans and a range of magazine and scholarly articles on topics such as marketing, management, and consumer relations. “Libraries excel at delivering information and helping people find the answers to questions,” JCLI Program Manager Patricia Snyder said. “Answers can translate to economic power.”

This workshop is offered as part of the Expanding Opportunities Program, which has been funded by the Oregon State Library through the federal Library Services and Technology Act. The grant-funded program explores how to help those running or starting a business learn about library resources. The program’s other areas of focus include helping people improve their employability and connect with education resources.
