Middle school mayhem

The Illinois Valley branch of Josephine Community Libraries has partnered with Lorna Byrne Middle School and the Boys & Girls Club to offer students free after school busing to the public library in Cave Junction on Wednesdays.

Activity buses take students across the highway from Lorna Byrne Middle School to the public library at 3:55 p.m. and pick them back up at 5:20 p.m.

“Of all the school-age groups, middle schoolers are in the most precarious of places on life-long reading. Partnering with the Three Rivers School District to create a program that appeals to these students has been very exciting,” said JCLI Illinois Valley Branch Manager Roberta Lee. “We have eight Wednesdays of activities planned from October through December.”

Students will have over an hour of free crafts, activities, and snacks before the buses return to pick them up and deliver them back to school to catch their buses home.
