Library offers new service that allows items for checkout: bakeware, devices, kits
The library is now cataloging items for checkout and calling it the Library of Things in an effort to give the community access to a spectrum of items, from board games and party supplies to kitchen appliances and various kits, without the burden of ownership because libraries are not just for books, or even e-books anymore.
“The Library of Things is a new way to check out items like puzzles and instruments,” said JCLI Executive Director Kate Lasky. “We are helping to build a future in our community where people will be able to access what they need without the burden of having to purchase it themselves.”
In an effort to help grow the Library of Things, the library is seeking donations of the following items in good condition or new: pet carriers, a portable DVD player, cameras/GoPros, party supplies such as a bubble machine or karaoke machine, bakeware, musical instruments, a sewing machine, a gold panning kit, a bicycle repair kit, sports equipment, telescopes, fishing poles, and a variety of tools. Please click here to email the library if you have an item you would like to donate before bringing it to the library.
