This coming January, we will begin a new chapter in the library’s story as JCLI passes the torch to the newly formed library district, Josephine Community Library District.
On May 16, 2017, voters passed Measure 17-79 to form a library district in the noncontiguous areas surrounding the branch libraries in Grants Pass, Williams, Wolf Creek, and Illinois Valley. The measure passed by 53 percent of the vote at a rate of 39 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value for owners within the boundaries of the library district. This tax started being assessed July 2017, and the library district will start to receive tax receipts in November 2017.
After the new district takes over operations of the library early next year, Josephine Community Libraries, Inc. will no longer continue. We are now in the process of transferring all of our resources to Josephine Community Library District and Josephine County Library Foundation. As part of our commitment to your confidentiality, we are asking our donors’ and volunteers’ permission to share their information with the District and the Library Foundation.
We thank our donors and volunteers for supporting our community libraries since 2009. You have been a force for good in Josephine County and you will always be a part of the library’s story.
