Library district to take over library operations in January

Grand re-opening in Grants Pass January 24

The Josephine Community Library District (JCLD) is set to take over operations of all four libraries in Grants Pass, Illinois Valley, Williams, and Wolf Creek beginning January 2, 2018. A grand re-opening will be held on Wednesday, January 24 from 11 a.m.–4 p.m. at the Grants Pass branch.

“The District Board approved its first strategic plan on November 9 and its first budget on December 7,” said Library Director Kate Lasky. “We are excited for this new chapter of library services and will prepare to begin opening branches for more hours by mid-February.”

Since the election in May 2017, library leadership has been busy setting up systems, transitioning services, and hiring staff in order to provide a seamless transition of services for patrons. They have brought together the newly formed Josephine Community Library District, the Josephine County Library Foundation, and Friends of the Library groups to identify values, set priorities, and plan for the future as the nonprofit Josephine Community Libraries, Inc. prepares to dissolve at the end of this year.

Community members are invited to attend a grand re-opening at the Grants Pass branch on Wednesday, January 24 to celebrate changes to come. The community can expect to see all four branches open for more hours and better materials early in the new year.
