Flora of Fairytales and Folklore

Summer Reading Program Week 2: June 8–14

Family recipe activity

Practice herbalism at home by infusing vinegar with dried herbs to use in salad dressings, cooking, and more. Try basil, oregano, dill, or any other herb sitting in your cupboard! Dried citrus peel, ginger, and peppers (such as chili flakes) are also delicious! Play around with different combinations and in salads or on veggies.

Early literacy tips and tricks

This year, registration for the Summer Ready Program is not required. Check the Sunday edition of the Grants Pass Daily Courier and the Wednesday edition of the Country Weekly for more fun games and activities.

What if reading is a challenge?

Remember to take breaks. Ask why your child is struggling. Maybe the material isn’t interesting, or the vocabulary is too complex for now. Reading is a skill that takes practice and patience. It’s okay to ask for help!
