Library offers electronic library cards and WiFi during temporary closure

In an effort to better serve the community while the library is closed and the public is homebound, Josephine Community Library (JCL) is now offering online library card registration, as well as WiFi, email, and phone support during regular service hours at all four branches in Grants Pass, Illinois Valley, Williams, and Wolf Creek.
For community members who do not yet have a library card, a new temporary e-card is available. Anyone interested should visit josephinelibrary.org for step-by-step instructions. With this e-card, patrons have access to thousands of e-books, audiobooks, and interactive and educational databases, and other entertainment for all ages.
As millions of young children and students are displaced from school and adults are forced to work remotely during this crisis, the library is following the American Library Association’s recommendation to continue to provide the essential service of internet WiFi at each library during regular hours of operation. While library doors are closed, patrons are asked to practice social distancing when connecting to WiFi by staying in their cars or at least six feet away from one another.
Library staff has also assembled online and community resources through the library website to help patrons of all ages during the COVID-19 pandemic. The community can stay engaged, manage time with children at home, keep active, and continue learning even when schools and libraries are closed.
