Poetry Miners–Dig It!

June 19, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Join us for the second in this year’s virtual “Poetry Miners—Diggin’ it!” series from
1–3 p.m. on Saturday, June 19. The theme is “Digging into Fiction for Poetry.”

Using the work of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Toni Morrison, John Steinbeck, and Toni Cade Bambara as inspiration, learn the value of precise detail and subtle contrast; see how setting can function as a character, and how narrative voice can create character. With the guidance of Applegate Poet Lisa Baldwin, participants will be prompted to write two original poems — a character poem and a place poem.

Registration is required. To register, email info@josephinelibrary.org. The Zoom link to join the program will be sent via email along with workshop materials.
