The new library district will be governed by the all-volunteer library district board of directors who were elected on the May 16 ballot.
The elected library district board will govern all aspects of the library district, overseeing all library operations and finances. Board members will follow public meeting law and meet regularly to conduct library business. Get information about board meetings.
After the district election is certified and the district is formed on June 14, 2017, on July 5 each district board member will be sworn in to office and hold its first regular board meeting. Learn more.
The district board will have the authority to contract for services, apply for grants, initiate volunteer partnership programs, and administer library operations.
Board members may not have a financial interest, either directly or indirectly, in any library district contract. They may not receive a salary or other payment for board services.
An independent audit will be done each year to guarantee that the funds are used only for library operations.
For the first election, three district board members are elected for two-year terms and the other two board members shall be elected for four-year terms. After those first terms are over, terms will be four years each.
