using your library

In April 2015, more than 2,400 people checked out 22,000 items (books, audio books, CDs, DVDs, and more) from the Grants Pass, Illinois Valley, Williams, and Wolf Creek library branches.

Josephine Community Libraries holds more than 164,000 items in four branch libraries. Among the collection are about 143,900 books, more than 5,800 audio books, nearly 9,000 videos and DVDs, almost 1,600 music CDs, and several hundred magazines and newspapers. Over the past year, about 11,000 new items have been added to the library materials collection. In addition, there are dozens of online databases that patrons can use to find the information they’re looking for.

In fiscal year 2014-15, more than 256,000 items have been checked out. In addition, 24,000 patrons came to the libraries to use the Internet computers, access the online reference resources, or plug in to the high-speed Internet wireless service. Thousands more came to the libraries to enjoy an exhibit or attend one of the many hosted events. Currently the four JCLI libraries have more than 29,000 registered patrons with an average of more than 1,000 patrons using the library each open day.

These patrons were helped and library operations supported by 360 volunteers working about 2,300 hours per month.
