Plant-based cooking demonstration at the library

Library partners with Blue Zones Project for series of seasonal cooking demonstrations

Josephine Community Library has partnered with Blue Zones Project of Grants Pass to offer “Cooking with Dee: Summer Garden Party” to community members from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 in the bookstore of the Grants Pass branch.
Participants can sample food at each demonstration and leave with simple, healthy recipes to get started on their path to wellness. Along the way, attendees will learn tips and tricks for enjoying plant-based cuisine.
The menu for Summer Garden Party includes zucchini Pad Thai, gazpacho soup, and wild blueberry “nice cream.”
Puller has devoted her time to teaching others how to prepare delicious plant-based meals. Her goal is to break down plant-based cooking, making it easy and accessible, all while sharing tips, tricks, and tools to last a lifetime. Outside of teaching, Dee volunteers for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine Food for Life Cancer Project Cooking Classes and assists author Colleen Patrick-Goudreau of joyfulvegan.com with cooking classes, recipe testing for cookbooks, and tabling at Vegetarian Festivals.
“Summer Garden Party” is the second of three cooking demonstrations in the “Cooking with Dee” series led by local plant-based expert, Dee Puller. The final cooking demonstration will take place Saturday, September 28.
Blue Zones Project® is a well-being improvement initiative that helps communities to make the healthy choice the easy choice. Their mission is to help participating organizations make small changes that contribute to huge communitywide benefits such as lowered healthcare costs, improved productivity, and a higher quality of life.
