Library renews partnership for services at Boys & Girls Club

Josephine Community Library is renewing its partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of the Rogue Valley to bring library services to kindergarten and first grade classes in 2024.

“I love how the Grants Pass library branch works with the kids at the club.  In the summer, our kids go over and look for books and participate in programming,” said Boys & Girls Club of the Rogue Valley Executive Director Greg Roe. “Librarians also visit the club and offer storytime to the younger kids. Our libraries benefit the entire community.”

During the past year, Josephine Community Library’s Early Literacy Outreach Coordinator visited the Boys & Girls Club facility in Grants Pass to deliver several interactive storytime sessions including reading, movement, songs, and other activities. One of these sessions brought the Summer Reading Program’s Storybook Walk directly into the Boys & Girls Club classroom during the statewide Oregon Summer Meals Program which provides free lunches to all youth under the age of 18 at designated sites during weekdays all over the state of Oregon.
