Library calls for more volunteers with new expanded hours

Rural branches in Illinois Valley, Williams, and Wolf Creek open more hours week of February 19

The rural branches of Josephine Community Library District (JCLD) located in Illinois Valley, Williams, and Wolf Creek begin their new, expanded hours of operation the week of February 19 while the Grants Pass branch is slated to expand hours beginning mid-March.
“We’re so excited to expand hours in our rural branches,” said JCLD board member Jennifer Roberts. “Having more open hours means more access to books, to knowledge, and to lifelong learning.”
The new hours for each rural branch are as follows:

  • Illinois Valley: Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 11 a.m.–5 p.m.; Wednesdays from 11a.m.–6 p.m.
  • Williams: Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Saturdays from 1–6 p.m.; Fridays from 11a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Wolf Creek: Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1–6 p.m.; Fridays from 11a.m.–4 p.m.

With expanded hours, all four library branches anticipate a need for more volunteers. For more information about volunteering at one of the four library branches, contact JCLD Volunteer Coordinator Amy King at 541-476-0571 ext. 109 or aking@josephinelibrary.org.
New hours were selected after analyzing data from a communitywide survey conducted in August of 2017 and consulting with an advisory committee made up of rural community members and volunteers.
Library patrons can expect to see a gradual uptick in new and better materials, as well as programs being offered at the library throughout the year.
