Library returns to curbside service as of Tuesday, August 17 and until further notice
Due to COVID-19 exposure at the Grants Pass branch of Josephine Community Library and the increased cases of the delta variant in Josephine County, all branches have returned to curbside pick-service on Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 4pm until further notice. All library programs and meeting room use is also suspended. Book return drop boxes will remain open.
“We are deeply saddened to limit in-person library services due to the spread of COVID once again,” said Library Director Kate Lasky. “Because the library has a small staff and depends on the support of volunteers, this exposure at the Grants Pass branch had the potential to shut down all library services completely. To ensure we can provide safe, essential service, we are forced to return to curbside only.”
The exposure happened in the main area of the Grants Pass branch on Thursday, August 12 between 1pm to 4pm. Exposure is defined as within six feet of a confirmed COVID-19 individual for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more. The library has reported the exposure to the Josephine County Public Health Department.
Josephine Community Library recognizes and shares the community’s concerns with the evolving COVID-19 pandemic. The JCL Board of Directors and staff are taking extra precautions to protect the health and welfare of patrons, volunteers, and staff. Library management understands that the situation is fluid and evolving and staff must be responsive to local health concerns, and directives from the Oregon Health Authority and the Office of the Governor.
Along with curbside service, online library services such as e-books, audiobooks, recommended reading for all ages, learning tools, and much more will remain available during this time. Visit josephinelibrary.org to learn more about online materials and to sign up for a library card.
