Library offers Oregon Humanities Conversation Project
Community members are invited to an Oregon Humanities Conversation Project about “Sharing Our Lives with Animals” with Karin Bolender Hart, PhD from 5–6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 14 at the Grants Pass branch of Josephine Community Library, 200 NW C Street.
Whether we find ourselves on farms, in cities, or in other places in between, our lives are entangled with the lives of other species, in particular those considered pets or livestock. Our developing relationships with animals is the focus of “Sharing Our Lives with Animals,” a conversation hosted by Josephine Community Library and sponsored by Oregon Humanities.
Karin Bolender Hart, PhD is an artist-researcher, writer, teacher, and founder of the Rural Alchemy Workshop (RAW), where her creative collaborations explore different ways that people live and interact with animals. Karin teaches art history and writing and has a PhD from the University of New South Wales in Australia. She lives in Philomath within a beloved family herd that includes assorted mammals, plants, insects, microbes, and others.
Oregon Humanities connects Oregonians to ideas that change lives and transform communities. Through the Conversation Project, Oregon Humanities offers free programs that engage community members in thoughtful, challenging conversations about ideas critical to our daily lives and our state’s future.
