Declaration 1776Exhibit request form

Borrow the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History’s Declaration 1776 exhibition is available for temporary loan to schools, libraries, and community organizations in Josephine County only for educational display. Donate by James Basker, president and CEO of the Gilder Lehrman Institute.

Community organizations, schools, and public agencies are invited to request the Declaration 1776: The Big Bang of Modern Democracy exhibit for display at their location. Exhibit hosts can retain the exhibit for up to three weeks at a time. After submitting the request form, a library representative will follow up within five business days. Each host will also receive access to accompanying educational resources and may request an optional on-site program featuring presenter Lois MacMillan during their exhibit period. Pick up at the Grants Pass branch.

1. Display Requirements: Panels must be displayed in a clean, secure, and publicly accessible space. 2. Care and Handling: Borrower agrees to handle panels with care, following all provided setup and handling instructions. Panels must be lowered gently when taken down, not leaned or dropped. 3. Timely Return: Panels must be returned by the agreed due date. If not returned by that date, the library may contact the borrower and request immediate return. 4. Condition on Return: Borrower agrees to return all panels in the same condition as received. Panels will be inspected upon return. 5. Liability Agreement: Borrower assumes full responsibility for the exhibit panels while in their custody. In the event of loss or damage— including missing panels, parts, or carrying materials— the borrower may be responsible for repair or replacement costs as determined by Josephine Community Library District. 6. Library Access: Library staff reserve the right to inspect the exhibit area or recall the panels if conditions of use are not met. 7. Technology or Equipment (if applicable): If library equipment is provided to support the display, the borrower agrees to return it in working condition, following the same process as other library checkouts.
