Without ongoing treatment and support, the potential for behaviors viewed by the general public as disturbing or frightening may increase, bringing the mentally ill individuals back to the attention of law enforcement agencies resulting in future arrests. The goal of this specialized caseload is to reduce recidivism and assist the JII with mental health services.
