Storybook Walk

During the Summer Reading Program, gather the family to read the children’s classic, “Harold and the Purple Crayon” by Crockett Johnson in downtown Grants Pass and Cave Junction business windows from mid-June through the end of July.

A Storybook Walk is an outdoor reading and walking experience of a children’s book with the pages of the book placed in different areas along a walking path.

Families are invited to stroll through downtown on their own time and at their own pace to read the featured story. Each “chapter” directs participants to the next location.

"Harold and the Purple Crayon"

The library has partnered with downtown Grants Pass and Cave Junction businesses for a special summer Storybook Walk from mid-June through the end of July featuring Crockett Johnson’s “Harold and the Purple Crayon.”

The pages are displayed in the windows of local businesses. The first “chapter” in Grants Pass is located at Travel Grants Pass Welcome Center, 198 SW 6th Street. The first “chapter” in Cave Junction is located at Cave Junction City Hall, 222 Lister Street.

A printable version of each map is available.
