Children’s library hosts celebration of therapy dog program
Children and their families are invited to spend some extra time sharing stories with the K9 Reading Buddies therapy dogs from 3–5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1 in the children’s library at the Grants Pass branch of Josephine Community Library, 200 NW C Street.
Celebrate the 10th anniversary of K9 Reading Buddies by taking pictures in the dog-themed photobooth, making bookmarks, writing a letter to a favorite dog, and reading to the therapy dogs. Children who participate will receive a free book to take home.
This program is free and open to the public. A current library card is not needed to participate. All youth ages 17 and younger who live in Josephine County are eligible for a free library card thanks to a scholarship program through the Josephine Community Library Foundation.
Developed to provide a non-intimidating environment for budding readers to explore reading out loud, K9 Reading Buddies takes place each Tuesday from 3–4 p.m. in the children’s library at the Grants Pass branch.
Therapy Dogs International, LLC has been a partner of Josephine Community Library since it reopened in 2009 to offer K9 Reading Buddies to children in Josephine County.
