Each week the library comes alive with furry friends waiting to hear a good book. Provided by volunteers who are owned by trained and registered therapy dogs, children in grades K-3 are invited to share a story with a K9 Reading Buddy. The therapy dogs welcome a scratch on the head and the turn of the page from beginning readers.
Developed to provide a non-intimidating environment for budding readers to explore reading out loud, K9 Reading Buddies takes place each Tuesday from 3-4 pm in the children’s room of the Grants Pass branch of Josephine Community Library District.
Note that the K9 Reading Buddies will be taking the following days off for the rest of 2018, and will not be visiting the library:
- Tuesday, June 26
- Tuesday, July 3
- Tuesday, September 4
- Tuesday, November 20
- Tuesday, December 25
