Everyday Civics for Youth

What is civic engagement? Why and how do we participate? Teens are invited to meet local elected officials and get these questions answered at a program facilitated by our local YMCA. Learn about the year-round YMCA Youth & Government program where teens have the opportunity to represent their community through model government, leadership, professional development and more culminating in a statewide mock legislative session with teens from all over Oregon.
This program is offered at no charge and is open to the public. A library card is not needed to participate.
This event is part of the 2023 Summer Reading Program. The 2023 theme is “Find Your Voice,” sponsored by the State Library of Oregon. For more information about events and activities during the Summer Reading Program, visit josephinelibrary.org/summer-reading-program.
